The Pretoria Bar gets its name from Pretoria in South Africa.

It has close links to the First Battalion of the Black Watch who were involved in the peace celebrations in Pretoria after the second Boer War in 1902. Many local Crieff man were members of the Black Watch and were involved in the War. pretoria-insideThe Second Boer War was fought between 1899 and 1902 between the British Empire and the Afrikaans-speaking settlers of the Boer republics. It ended with a British victory. There are pictures in the pub showing the Black Watch marching in Pretoria Square in 1902 and we also have a plaque from the Famous Grouse for our pub and its historical links to South Africa.

We offer live music and Friday Karaoke nights and The Pretoria Bar was selected from hundreds of pubs throughout the UK to make The Famous Grouse Famous Pubs list in 2011.
