The Hawes Inn, with its rural charm and rustic character, dates back to 1793.
It is situated close to the Forth Bridge with views of the Forth Road Bridge and the new Queensferry Crossing, which will be completed in 2016. In 1866 the author Robert Louis Stevenson stayed at the Inn, and began writing his novel Kidnapped. Sir Walter Scott also used the Hawes Inn as a location in his novel The Antiquary.
