Driftwood Bar is a student bar in the Sauchiehall Street area of Glasgow City Centre.
It prides itself in being a small independent venue and was recently awarded the honour of the Best Bar None – Bar of the Year for Glasgow. Driftwood is situated within the beautiful Grade A listed Charing Cross Mansions which was designed and built in a French renaissance style by John James Burnett in 1891. John James Burnett was an influential figure in British modern architecture and was in fact knighted in 1914 for his work on the Edward VII Galleries at the British Museum. One of the pub’s most beautiful features is its listed cupola at the rear of the bar which is intricately painted to represent the outside sky.

Since it became the Driftwood 12 years ago, it has since become a favourite of Glasgow students and business types and has always provided excellent affordable food, drinks and nightly entertainment. Over the years Driftwood has also had its share of famous customers, in fact most recently Gerard Butler popped in to see us for a pint.
If you are looking for a laid back, safe and friendly pub which is steeped in historic importance then Driftwood is the Bar for you…. and we are sure many of the people of Glasgow that we have entertained over the years would whole heartedly agree!
