Tennent’s Bar is a famous West End pub, which was bought from Hugh Tennent around 1884.

It’s hard to believe now but up until the early seventies, females were not allowed in the bar….. that was until Shelley Russell, an American studying at Glasgow University, organised a ‘sit-in’ and there was a demonstration out on Byres Road. The policy was quickly changed and a small cleaning cupboard was turned into the ladies’ toilet.

Well known for having 12 cask ales on at all times, showing all sporting events on our 10 TV screens and serving great quality food until 10pm every night we are a great institution in the West End. We provide a home from home welcome to all our customers and you will often see well known figures and celebrities blending in with our diehard regular clientele.

The pub is so great even the staff never leave and some have been here for more than 18 years. When you come into Tennent’s, you know you are in a REAL pub!
