The Carrick

The sign outside says ‘Established in 1719′ and there’s nothing this old, popular pub doesn’t know about traditional hospitality.

The pub takes its name from the world’s oldest surviving clipper ship which was built in 1864 to carry people who were emigrating to southern Australia. The clipper was converted in 1924 into a training ship at Irvine and renamed the HMS Carrick. The clipper has recently returned to the Port of Adelaide in Australia where it will undergo an historic restoration.

This pub is bang in the centre of Irvine and it draws in a broad cross-section of people, from young to old, from families to High Street shoppers, all enjoying good food and good company. The pub is full of cosy corners on either side of the long bar in the centre. It guarantees a friendly welcome to regulars and first-timers alike, calling in for a Belhaven Best and some classic pub food. There is a live DJ on Friday and Saturday evenings, a multi-media quiz and dominoes on a Sunday and, on selected days, there is also live entertainment.
