The Golf Hotel

The Golf Hotel is a Coaching Inn which dates back to 1721, making it one of the oldest bars in Scotland.

It was built in by Thomas Young and a marriage lintel from this period, with his initials and those of his wife, Isabella Martin, is built into the fireplace of the public bar. This traditional bar has an original low beamed ceiling, wooden floors and a sixteenth century fireplace, which is a great way to keep cosy in the winter in front of our roaring log fire!

Crail Golfing Society was formed here in 1786 and is the seventh oldest Golfing Society in the world. Daniel Connelly, the owner of the hotel at the time, was an original founding member of the society. These links to the Hotel and the Society are still here today with Mr Graham Guthrie, the current owner, a member of the Society.

As then and now the Golf Hotel is renowned for its selection of fine ale and we have been awarded CASK MARQUE for our ales which is a major award in the industry. We have a beautiful beer garden for the summer months and host occasional nights of live music with local musicians.
