St Andrews is known as ‘The Home of Golf’ and The Jigger Inn, which overlooks this famous course’s 17th hole, is very much a home for golfers when visiting as well as a pub for everyone.
There are locals, University students, who regularly vote the Inn as their favourite on any ‘crawl’, guests staying at the Old Course Hotel, actors and actresses, broadcasters, sport and rock stars, caddies and, of course, golfers. Many an Open Champion have celebrated lifting the iconic Claret Jug with a wee celebration at this unique watering hole.
This historic building is steeped in history and dates back to the 1850s when it was the station master’s lodge. The original poster announcing the closure of the station in 1969 is on the wall as is the station’s clock, stopped at ten to two – the time of the last train to depart St Andrew’s station.
