The Bankfoot Inn is a quirky old place which dates back to the Jacobites, who bought it in 1764, and is traditional coaching inn with a courtyard (now a beer garden) and its old stables.
The Bankfoot Inn is a Listed building which we’ve carefully restored. It is most certainly haunted, from whispering voices in the laundry to apparitions in the guest rooms. We don’t often advertise these “past residents” just in case it puts people off but usually wait until breakfast time to see how they are. We give them names here, “the old wifey”, the “wee girl” and then there’s “the thing”…but we don”t talk about that one much.

The Inn was requisitioned by the army for officers’ accommodation during WWII and there is a great story of the lone german bomber sweeping over the village looking for a target. Sadly, the old man that witnessed that bomber and its bomb doors opening is no longer with us but we are glad we know the rest of the story now. We’re an alehouse, are well known for quality beer and were awarded CAMRA “Pub of the year Tayside runner up 2013″. We have two bars, open fires, wood burning stoves, a large malt selection, and traditional music folk sessions every week which packs the place out – anyone can join in and tourists love it. Then of course, there’s Hogmanay….time to get the pipes out! We look forward to welcoming you.
